Music Monday Contest

Before I say anything else, I have to admit…  I completely stole this idea from Fishdog’s blog.  He’s the Best.  Husband.  Ever.  to my fantabulous mentor, Mel-O-Diva.  And his blog’s funnier than hell, so go ahead…click on his link.  But then come back and play my…er, his..game.  :)  The prize will be a $15 Barnes and Noble online gift certificate delivered right to your email.

All you have to do is identify as many of the songs listed below and EMAIL ME your guesses at allykendall@live.com  Leave a comment here, too, giving the number you think you know.  But PLEASE…don’t list the answers here.  I know…I’m anal.  But it’s easy enough to cheat on this kind of contest, so let’s not make it any easier, ‘kay?  And now that I’ve brought up cheating, don’t Google the lyrics either.  Play fair.  It’s more fun that way.  BTW, even if you *think* you know the song, but can’t pinpoint it exactly…take a guess.  If you know it’s an 80s hair band song (not saying for sure there are any :) ), but you can’t think of which one…tell me it’s a hair band song and, if there should be a tie, I’ll give you partial credit to win.

There’s no rhyme or reason for this list.  I just went down my Rhapsody library list and picked some songs.  I think some are more obvious than others, some harder.

The contest will run until Wednesday at noon CST, after which I’ll post the winner and hook ‘em up with their B&N gift certificate.

Happy Monday and Good Luck!! :)

  1. Right now, she’s probably saying “I’m drunk”
and he’s a thinking that he’s gonna lucky,
Right now, he’s probably dabbing 3 dollars worth of that bathroom Polo…
    And he don’t know…
  2. On my knees, I’ll ask
Last chance for one last dance
    ‘Cause with you, I’d withstand
All of hell to hold your hand
  3. Ya - nothin’ could change what you mean to me
Oh there’s lots that I could say
    But just hold me now
Cause our love will light the way
  4. You want me
    Come find me
    Made up your mind?
  5. You don’t know how long I have wanted
to touch your lips and hold you tight, oh
You don’t know how long I have waited
and I was going to tell you tonight
  6. You’re always hiding behind your so called goddess
So what you don’t think that we can’t see your face
Resurrected and back before the final fallen
I’ll never rest until I can make my own way
    I’m not afraid of fading
  7. Oh, I hear the weather’s nice in California
There’s sunny skies as far I can see
If you ever come back home to Carolina
I wonder what you’d say to me
  8. Come break me down
    Bury me, bury me
    I am finished with you
  9. Without a doubt
The break-up is worth the make-up sex you’re givin’ me
    Lets hash it out
Cause your bitchin’ and your yellin’ don’t mean anything
  10. I’m falling apart, I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart that’s still beating
In the pain is there is healing
In your name I find meaning
  11. If you needed love, well then ask for love
Could’ve given love, now I’m taking love
And it’s not my fault, cause you both deserve
What’s coming now, so don’t say a word
  12. Just barely got out of school, came from the edge of town.
Fought like a switchblade so no one could take him down.
He had no money, oooh no good at home.
He walked the streets a soldier and he fought the world alone
  13. So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad.
    And though I’m nobody’s poet, I thought it wasn’t half-bad.
  14. Now there’s not even breathin’ room
    Between pleasure and pain
Yeah you cry when we’re makin’ love
Must be one and the same
  15. I see your face before me
as I lay on my bed
    I kinda get to thinking
of all the things you said
  16. Take a chance on love and try how it feels
With my heart wide open now you know I will
Find what it means to be the girl
Change her mind and change her world
  17. I see your face every time I dream
    On every page, every magazine
So wild so free so far from me
You’re all I want, my fantasy
  18. The whole damned world is just as obsessed
With who‘s the best dressed and who’s having sex
Who‘s got the money. Who gets the honeys
Who‘s kinda cute and who‘s just a mess

Jennifer Colgan Dishes on The Allure of Fantasies ~

Any discussion about romance, and particularly erotic romance, usually includes talk about fantasies. We all have them [even if we don’t always like to admit it] and reading romance let’s us indulge in those fantasies whenever we need a break from the everyday world.

I’ve always believed the allure of fantasy is that it’s safe, even when it feels like it isn’t. In our fantasies, anything can happen, but nothing is permanent. We can erase it all when we’re finished and move on to something else.

One of the reasons I chose a tattoo theme for Skin, my latest Ellora’s Cave release, is for exactly the reason that a tattoo is permanent. [Well, okay, they can be removed at great expense and some discomfort] but for general purposes, a tattoo is something indelible. As far as fantasies go it transcends that safety net of ‘erasability.’

When my heroine, Makena Brady, decides to look into getting a tattoo, she steps out of her safe world. She’s finally going to take a much needed walk on the wild side of life. She needs to do something she can’t take back, and when she meets tattoo artist Darq Stone, she discovers that even a temporary tattoo, which will fade in time, can represent a permanent change in her life.

Giving herself over to Darq and allowing him to use her body as a canvas for his art form, gives Makena a freedom that only seems attainable by making a permanent and indelible change in her lifestyle. That’s a heady fantasy for most people to consider, but it’s been my experience that those who indulge in that fantasy, without the safety net, if you will, are often all the better for it.

What’s your fantasy?
